Chairman’s Corner: A Busy August for Digital Signage

Chairman’s Corner: A Busy August for Digital Signage

Retail media is following the same path. Albertsons is shifting around 3,000 in-store displays to Creative Realities, and in Europe, ZetaDisplay’s acquisition of retailmediatools pairs signage infrastructure with ad serving and audience data. Stores are turning into measurable media, fast.

Samsung pushed further into this space too, launching Samsung VXT Ads, Powered by Smartify. The partnership plugs Smartify’s advertising network directly into the VXT CMS, so any Samsung commercial display can start earning ad revenue with no new hardware. Strategically, it’s another sign that the CMS layer is becoming the entry point to monetisation, not just content management, and it raises the bar for every platform provider to offer something similar.

AI is turning from promise into product. Samsung and Idomoo have added Lucas, an AI video agent, directly into VXT Canvas. Type a prompt and get a finished, on-brand video back, script, animation and voiceover included. The gap between having an idea and having it live on screen keeps shrinking.

Consolidation continued as well. Uniguest acquired Visix, adding digital signage, room scheduling and wayfinding to its portfolio and extending its reach into corporate and higher education, the latest sign that platforms are building out rather than staying narrow.

Closer to home, we’re proud that ScreenCom Group, a founding member of the GSA, has two products shortlisted at the AV Awards 2026: TEOS Manage 3.4 for Control and Management Technology of the Year, and TDM Signage 5.0 for Digital Signage Technology of the Year. Congratulations to the whole team.

And a date for your diary: on 9 September at 15:00 CET, GSA and SC Group are co-organising a free webinar, “The Future of MagicINFO On-Premise: What to do Next?”, with Ricardo de Vries (ScreenCom Group), Pete Colquitt (Samsung Electronics) and Kevin Pakalén (EWQ ZONE).

Taken together, these developments point the same way. Media, AI, measurement and infrastructure aren’t separate conversations anymore. They’re one conversation. The future belongs to connected ecosystems that are measurable, interoperable, secure and commercially sustainable, and it’s the Alliance’s job to help connect them.

Kind regards,
Mark Ossel
