Technology is increasingly simple. People are increasingly complex. In 2023 the vast majority of us must stop valuing technical skills over people skills or we risk churnageddon, and we must do it quickly.
Biography
Beginning life making websites as a teenager in the 90s, I was there for the birth of animated gifs let alone javascript. With a background in start-ups (ecommerce, gambling, gaming, auctions, social media, events, news, health, TV, finance, etc) you name it, I was there when it happened. Thirty years later I can hand on heart say that the hardest thing to get right is the people.
Today I manage software development at River Island, itself a been there done that fashion retail company of some 70+ years and enjoying it.
